Battery and motor

The Keeness is Yadea’s flagship electric motorcycle in Pakistan. It has an 11 kW mid-mounted motor that delivers up to 300 Nm of torque, a claimed 0 to 50 km/h time of 3 seconds and a top speed of 100 km/h. Power comes from two removable 72V 32Ah ternary lithium batteries. Yadea claims a range of 129 km and a charging time of 5 to 6 hours. The climbing angle is 20 degrees. The battery management system offers more than 40 protections and an IPX7 waterproof rating, and the batteries can be charged between minus 15 and 55 degrees Celsius. The battery pack replacement warranty is 24 months or 20,000 km. Range and speed figures are manufacturer claims.

Size and practicality

This is a full-size motorcycle with 17-inch street tubeless tyres, which Yadea says give better cushioning, endurance and puncture resistance and good handling at speed and in corners. The suspension combines an inverted front fork with a rear mount shock absorber, which is a setup often used on performance motorcycles. Yadea describes a golden-triangle riding position between the rider and the bike for comfort. The official page does not publish dimensions, wheelbase, ground clearance, weight, seat height or load rating, so we have left those fields out.

Equipment

The Keeness has a CBS braking system on both the front and rear brakes, which Yadea says shortens the braking distance and reduces the risk of nose dive and tail flick. Other listed features are cruise control, a USB port, storage space, a digital meter and EasyGO smart unlocking. Both batteries are removable for charging. The page does not mention ABS, riding modes or reverse mode, and no colours are listed as text.

Price, warranty and which one to buy

The official price is PKR 1,400,000. The battery warranty is 24 months or 20,000 km, which is shorter than the 4-year warranty on the Velax and T5L. In our opinion, the Keeness is for enthusiasts who want a real electric motorcycle with sports performance and are willing to pay more than the price of many petrol motorcycles. At this price it competes with large-capacity petrol bikes, so it is mainly a choice for riders who value acceleration, low running costs and quiet riding. Because the price is so high, we recommend a thorough test ride and getting the licence, registration and warranty details from the dealer in writing before you book. For everyday city riding, a scooter like the T5L or Velax will cost far less.
