Motor, battery and range

The Vlektra Bolt is the company’s fastest standard model and is sold in two versions: the Bolt and the Bolt Dark. Both use a 72 V, 3000 W BLDC motor that Vlektra rates at 120 Nm of torque and a top speed of 105 km/h. Energy comes from a 72 V 38 Ah lithium iron phosphate battery, which the company says resists dust and water and is designed to last up to 15 years. The official page claims a range of up to 150 km and a charging time of about 3.5 hours from a normal wall socket, using the included 84 V/10 A charger. Vlektra says a full charge uses roughly 3 units of electricity. Three ride settings are offered: Economy, Sports and Reverse.

Size and practicality

Vlektra does not publish the Bolt’s overall dimensions, seat height, ground clearance or weight on its own site, so we have left those fields out. If you are short or tall, check the seat position at a dealer before you buy. What the company does publish is the running gear: 90/90-17 tyres at the front, 120/80-16 at the rear, an upside-down fork at the front and a monoshock at the back, with dual-piston caliper disc brakes at both ends. Vlektra says the bike can carry about 200 kg without any loss of speed or range and that it is suitable for riding with a pillion. A digital meter handles the instruments.

Equipment by variant

Both versions get an LED projector headlamp with a daytime running light, LED indicators and an LED tail light. The standard Bolt is listed with CBS braking and a synthesized sound speaker that reacts to acceleration and connects over Bluetooth. The Bolt Dark, priced at Rs 599,000, is listed with a similar Bluetooth sound module, a built-in tank storage compartment with space for the charger, and reverse assist alongside its three speed modes. Both are covered by a 3-year replacement warranty on the battery and a 2-year replacement warranty on the motor.

Which variant to buy

This section is our opinion, not Vlektra’s. The standard Bolt at Rs 549,000 is the sensible choice for most buyers, because the published motor, battery and range figures are the same on both versions and the Dark costs Rs 50,000 more. The Bolt Dark makes sense if you like the darker look or want to keep your charger on board. Keep in mind that range and top speed are manufacturer claims. Hard riding, a pillion passenger and extreme weather will usually reduce real-world range, so treat 150 km as a best case rather than a promise.
