Battery and motor

The ZF-Y108 has a 1200W motor and a 60V 30Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with an IP-65 rating. Zhongfa claims a top speed of 55 km/h and a range of 70 to 90 km. The site lists a charging time of 3 to 4 hours with a 60V 8AH charger. The headline range figure on the page is 90 km, while the specification table says 70 to 90 km, so the lower number is the safer planning figure. Like all range numbers on the Zhongfa site, these are manufacturer claims.

Size and practicality

The Y108 rides on 10-inch tyres at both ends and has a maximum rated load of 180 kg, which is enough for a rider and a passenger. Zhongfa lists the ground clearance as 4 to 6 inches and describes a balanced suspension system with a comfortable seating height. The suspension is listed as 30 tubes at the front and rear, which is a manufacturer description rather than a travel figure. Length, width, height, weight and seat height are not published, so we have left those out. The page highlights a safety bar at the back that doubles as protection and a handhold for a passenger.

Equipment

One version is sold. The brakes are a front disc and a rear drum, the same arrangement as the N1. Zhongfa lists LED lighting and the rear safety bar. The page does not mention a digital speedometer, USB charging, a removable battery or reverse mode. Two colours are offered: blue and black. Compared with the N1, the Y108 adds a more powerful motor, a larger battery capacity at 30Ah, a higher top speed and a higher load rating for only Rs 37,000 more, which makes it the better value of the two in our opinion.

Price, warranty and which one to buy

The official price is PKR 245,000. No warranty period is shown on the model page, so please ask the dealer for the battery, motor and controller terms in writing. We think the Y108 is a good fit for riders who want an affordable scooter for daily city use and who will sometimes carry a passenger. It is not designed for fast roads or heavy loads. If you want disc brakes at both ends and a higher top speed, step up to the 007 or the Parkour. If you only ride short distances alone, the N1 saves some money. As with any electric scooter, check where the nearest service centre is and what a replacement battery costs before you decide.
