Engine and hybrid system

The J5 SHS-H pairs a fifth-generation 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (Jaecoo calls it the 1.5TGDI DHE) with an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission. Combined output is 221 hp (165 kW) and 295 Nm. Jaecoo quotes a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds and a combined range of more than 950 km. The WLTP combined fuel consumption is 5.3 L/100 km, which works out to about 18.9 km/L on paper. This is a regular hybrid, not a plug-in, so its small 1.83 kWh battery charges itself while you drive. Real-world fuel economy will vary, and the official page uses the WLTP test figure.

Size and practicality

The J5 is 4,380 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall, on a 2,620 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is 176 mm and the fuel tank holds 51 litres. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. The rear seat folds 60:40 and Jaecoo promotes a large panoramic roof with 99.1 percent UV blocking. Boot space is not published on the official page.

Equipment

The official page describes one combined specification for the Comfort and Premium trims and does not say which trim gets which item, so please confirm the split with a dealer before buying. Listed safety kit includes six airbags (dual front, front side and side curtain), ISOFIX anchor points and child locks. Driver aids cover adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, forward collision warning, lane change assist, rear cross traffic assist and intelligent high beam. A 540-degree HD camera is also listed. Inside there is an eight-inch digital cluster, a 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless fast charger and USB and Type-C ports. The seats are PVC faux leather, with a six-way power driver’s seat, a four-way front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control and multi-colour ambient lighting.

Price, warranty and which one to buy

New prices took effect on 1 October 2026: Comfort PKR 6,999,000 and Premium PKR 7,999,000, each up by PKR 300,000. Jaecoo’s site shows a 6 year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8 year / 160,000 km warranty, which we read as the battery cover. Because both trims share the same hybrid powertrain, the choice is about equipment. In our opinion, the Comfort is the better value if its kit list covers what you need, and the Premium is worth the extra Rs 1 million only if you want the fuller feature set. Ask a dealer for the exact difference.
