Engine and battery

The J7 SHS-P is a plug-in hybrid. It uses a fifth-generation 1.5-litre turbo petrol Dedicated Hybrid Engine with a continuously variable dedicated hybrid transmission and an 18.3 kWh battery. Official figures are 341 hp (255 kW) and 525 Nm combined, a 0-100 km/h time of 8.5 seconds, more than 90 km of electric range and more than 1,200 km of total range. Jaecoo does not state the test cycle for the range figures, so please treat them as manufacturer claims. The fuel tank holds 60 litres.

Size and practicality

The J7 is 4,500 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,670 mm tall, with a 2,672 mm wheelbase and 174 mm of ground clearance. It runs on 19-inch alloy wheels. Jaecoo highlights a full panoramic roof and a front passenger seat with a Boss Key, which lets rear passengers slide the front seat forward to gain legroom. The body uses 80 percent high-strength steel. The official page does not list boot space or seating capacity.

Equipment

The J7 is sold as a single Premium variant. Safety is a strong point: eight airbags cover front, side, curtain, seat gap, front centre and driver knee positions. Driver assistance is extensive and includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, a driver monitoring system, emergency lane keeping, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure prevention, rear cross traffic alert and traffic jam assist. Outside you get LED matrix headlights, a full-width LED tail light bar, flush pop-out door handles and a panoramic roof. The front seats are faux leather with heating and ventilation and power adjustment, and the driver’s seat adds lumbar support.

Price, warranty and which one to buy

The J7 Premium was cut by PKR 500,000 to PKR 9,999,000 from 14 September 2026, down from PKR 10,499,000. Jaecoo’s site shows a 6 year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8 year / 160,000 km warranty that we read as the battery cover. In our opinion, the J7 is one of the better value plug-in hybrids in this price range thanks to its safety kit and long warranty. It suits buyers who can charge at home and want more space than the J5. If you do not need plug-in running, the cheaper J5 hybrid is the simpler choice.
